TANGLE JR.:
SYNONYM
A word having the
same or nearly the same meaning in one or more senses as
another in the same language.
GAME
OBJECTIVE
Thesaurus Tangle is a
race against the clock as you try to discover the synonym
for the given keyword.
GAME
PLAY
When you begin
Thesaurus Tangle you will spin the keywords by clicking on
the blue spin buttons on either the bottom right or left
of the screen.
Once the keyword is
shown, a scrambled word will appear on the screen. You
drag the letter tiles into the empty slots below the
scrambled word in order to find the synonym that relates
to the world.
For example, the
keyword BAR
could have these synonyms: Prohibit,
Saloon,
Stripe.
Many words have synonyms that are both nouns, verbs and
adjectives.
You have only 2
minutes in which to
find the synonym for the keyword. The faster you can solve
the word the higher your points will be. When the word is
solved it will be removed from the board and the points
earned will be added to your score. The keywords will be
spun automatically and you will continue until the round
is over.
HINTS
During game play you
will be shown letters from the mystery synonym. The first
letter of the synonym will appear when 20
seconds have expired. The following letters appear at 20
second intervals. Only the first 4
letters of the mystery synonym will be given. If 2 minutes
expire before you can discover the synonym then the
keywords will be spun automatically and the previous
keyword will be considered UNSOLVED.
SPINNING
WORDS
When the keyword
first appears you will not be able to use the SPIN button
until 30 seconds have expired. You then have the option to
skip the mystery synonym in order to save the unused time
points that are added to your score at the end of the
round. For each unused second 3 points will be added to
your score.
DOUBLE
BONUS WORDS
During the round one
of the synonyms will be randomly selected as a special
double bonus word. This means you will receive double the
points if you can unscramble the synonym.
SCORING
Scores are computed
by using the length of word and the seconds unused. Extra Time
Bonus points are
added for finding the word in under 60 seconds. 200
bonus points are given for finding the word in less that
20 seconds, 100
points in under 40 seconds and 75
points in under 60 seconds.
At the end of a round
all the mystery synonym words will be shown one by one and
the unused time points will be added to your score. You'll
get an additional 250
points for each word you solved.
TOP
TEN SCORE BOARD
If your score is in
the top ten scores for that length of game, you will be
asked to enter your name onto the scoreboard.
